Code of Conduct

At The Hold, we’re building more than walls — we’re building a community and we want everyone to feel safe, welcome, and respected.

Respect People

  • Climbing is for everyone, let’s celebrate and encourage all those who love climbing! Kindness and respect are key components of a climbing community, no matter someone’s age, ability, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, or background.

  • We’re all one big family here at The Hold so make sure to look out for each other. If someone takes a fall, check in. If you see something unsafe or concerning, let us know.

Respect the Space

  • Let’s work as a team to keep it clean. Put rubbish in bins, return brushes and gear, and avoid leaving chalk explosions behind. Don’t wear climbing shoes in the bathrooms.

  • Clear the mats. The mats are there to cushion a climber’s fall. The last thing you want is to be sitting underneath a climber, or climbing and landing on someone else! So let’s keep chalk bags, climbing shoes, and most importantly, yourselves away from these safety areas.

  • No gymnastics, wrestling or running. As much as we like movement and shows of physical strength, our mats are for safe landings, not flips, play fighting or races. Please make sure that both big and little children stick to climbing when on the mats!

  • Sharing is caring! Let’s be aware of others waiting to try out the routes, and give everyone space to climb.

  • Only climbing shoes to be used on the walls — no street wear, socks, or bare feet.

Zero Tolerance

The climbing community is a fun, encouraging, kind and open space. As such, harassment, discrimination, or aggressive behaviour will be asked to be left outside our doors, as it just doesn’t belong at The Hold.
